Our Foodbank
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why SLPC formed the North East Edinburgh foodbank in 2013, to provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.
The Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
The food bank is designed to help individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies. Local care professionals in the Leith area refer people, with a food voucher, to the food bank centre where they are given their food supplies, a hot drink and help in finding other professionals who can help them out of their crisis.
There are 4 church hall based distribution centres in Leith, based at North and South Leith Parish Church Halls, Henderson Street; Leith St Andrews Church Hall, Easter Road; Pilrig St Pauls Church Hall, Pilrig Street and St Margaret’s Parish Church, McLaren Halls, Restalrig Road South.
